Roy shall be here tomorrow. I have a concert tomorrow, and am going to have him bring Melanie with us and then we'll watch the fireworks over the bay. Work was crazy. Not only is every cat cage full, but we have an overflow of two cats in carriers. We have puppies out of our ears, and speaking of ears, plenty of cats with ear mites. Yeah! The longer I work there, the more I want to see things change. More adoptions out and such. As it stands now, we don't advertise, run ads in the paper, or anything. It's strictly word of mouth and people who drive by and wonder why the heck there is all the dogs outside. It seems like there are plenty of job openings for animal control officers; maybe it's something I could get into (there always is a chance that I'll never, ever be accepted into a Vet Med program). That's why I'm hoping I get the scholarship to get Class 1 Animal Control certified in August. Mom seems apprehensive about the whole thing, but I don't care, it's my life and if I never make more than 45K a year, so be it. Although, I have seen jobs in animal control for 120K+ if you get to the top of the pyramid in a bigger city.
If I did get involved in something like that, I would probably try to create a job for myself by petitioning a rural area that never had a program for animal control. I think about the area where I grew up, and realize they never really had an active animal control program, just random officers who would pick up animals complained about and put them in a fenced kennel together. I never knew if they adopted them out (i know they weren't very active about it) or just euthanized them all. I'd like to get involved with large animal humane issues as well. Although, there's more of a gray area as to what is/is not acceptable for farm animals. Well, I'm rambling.
They're playing music down at the "town square". I walked melanie by it earlier and it looked like a scary crowd. I am going to clean the living areas of the house tonight and get the dishwasher going. I ran out of cooking bowls, so I guess it's time.
