can i just say, i looove that book "the giver" it's soo good. i remember reading it in 8th grade. my only qualm with the story is the way it ends...doesn't he get on a sled or something and then all of a sudden it's just over? i vaugly remember our english assignment in middle school having to do with rewriting the ending or something like that..but who know's what i wrote about. anyhow, good luck on getting more comments....i know what its like to be jealous of all the commenting going on around here. i rarely get more than one or two comments every few posts or so...

yeah, i love the giver ... but i was disappointed w/ how it ended too ... there is a sequel though if you haven't read it ... it's ok, but the giver is definitely better. I think it's called "Gathering Blue". Anyway, yeah, I'm really jealous of all these comment whores, but I'm bound and determined to show them up ;) ... they haven't even commented on mine yet, so i'm assuming either they haven't seen the challenge or they are unwilling to contribute!

they made a SEQUEL? haha, kick ass.

I just read that book for the first time about 3 months ago, and I loved it.

I was angry that I'd never gotten to read it before.

yeah, it definitely is a great book ... btw, glad you had a good time in Ann Arbor ... it really is a cool city, even though I've only been there a few times.

Yeah, I in fact just read it the other day... Kinda sad, seeing as how I am an english major and I'm reading a kid's book. Though for the record, to this day I love children's literature, at least when it is well written. I think that there can be beauty in simplicity. Speaking of which, they are making a movie of "The Polar Express," which has to be my favorite child's book of all time. It will be starring Tom Hanks as the conductor of a train that takes kids to the north pole... It was the drawings that really wowed critics though. They were very soft and detailed dark and muted. If the movie recreates that feeling, then it will be worth the outrageous prices that they charge nowadays ( ... )
