The warehouse was nothing more than.. empty. I sat at my desk, just sitting. This was basically my home since the hotel went down. I sure did miss my nice room, comfortable and private. Here seemed cold and exposed. I sat wondering exactly what to do with myself. We hadn't had a case in what seemed like forever, everyone now was out doing ( Read more... )

Strange Knight guys and random blond girls, part gargoyle--part slut with an awful color job demons, not to mention Nikki spending half the night parading around town with a ghostly Wesley...that coma thing--way less complicated. Sure, on their own those things may not be so huge, but all in one night? It was like a whole new level of weird. A level I didn't even know existed. The only up side of all that was that 'the gangs all here' thing. Well, most of the gang. Hell, Gunn was there and he looked like death. Wesley, who actually was--and is currently dead, however, did not show up. I'll accept his excuse...and we really should start working on fixing that little problem. But, there was one body who was missing from all of this, and he didn't have an 'oops, I died' excuse to fall back on. Or, he did, but he's use to it ( ... )

As I sat just.. well, staring at the phone I had decided against calling anyone. I didn't even know where everyone was at this point. No one had come in to the new "office" in quite a while, and I hadn't spoken with many of them since their last visit. I stood up from the desk and grabbed my coat and thought back just going out to roam the sewers. Just after I had opened the door to the alley behind the warehouse, the phone rang.

Stopping at the door, I turned and looked at the phone wondering if I really wanted to pick it up. I didn't really know if I wanted to talk to anyone right now for some reason. What if it was a client? We hadn't had any clients in what seemed like forever. Maybe they didn't like the new "office"? After about four or five rings, I rushed over to the phone and picked it up. I started to say, "This is Angel Investigations how may we help you?" but instead I heard a familiar woman's voice on the other end.

"Over 200 years old...ya think the guy would know how to work a phone."I don't think I was ( ... )

I lifted my head up from the steering wheel and eyed the phone harshly, as if the stern look could somehow be transfered to Mr. Dearly Departed on the other end. Actually, if we had those neat little camera phones he could...but I don't think more buttons on a phone is the answer here.

So I was less loopy then I had thought--and apparently he heard my comment... Well, good!

"Cordy? Oh, you know it's the cell phone I can't stand, not this one.""Yeah, we all know you'd be happier working a rotary phone, but it's time to live in the now, buddy ( ... )

"Yeah, we all know you'd be happier working a rotary phone, but it's time to live in the now, buddy."

I smiled a little. It was nice to hear from Cordy. "Well, I was never one for change, you know."

She did sound a little irritated as she spoke. Guess I couldn't blame her. I remembered something about a meeting over at Buffy's house, but I just couldn't go. After what happened with Wesley, I didn't feel as if I would be of any help to anyone then.

"Done any socializing with the gang as of late? You know, chat with Fred...kill things with Gunn or seen Wesley?"I frowned when she mentioned Wesley. She knew about what had happened to him just as I did, and yet she still decided to remind me. "No, Cordy, I haven't talked with anyone lately, and you know just as well as me that I wouldn't possibly be able to see Wesley ( ... )
