The warehouse was nothing more than.. empty. I sat at my desk, just sitting. This was basically my home since the hotel went down. I sure did miss my nice room, comfortable and private. Here seemed cold and exposed. I sat wondering exactly what to do with myself. We hadn't had a case in what seemed like forever, everyone now was out doing

Angel... As in the 'Angel' of 'Angel Investigations'. See, without him, we're just...'Investigations'. Not the best name, but also, not the point. Was power brooding on the agenda the other night, therefore all other problems were deemed unimportant?
I flicked the tuner on in my car, which was conveniently set to one of those 'all news--all the time' stations. I regretted the action as soon as I heard the overly peppy woman giving the traffic report say 'traffic into downtown L.A. is at a crawl'. Now there's an over exaggeration. Crawl? Traffic was stagnant. Lying news lady...
Pulling out my cell phone I dialed Angel's number then set the phone on the dashboard after pressing speaker phone. I think I've given up on actually expecting him to pick up over the last few days. Maybe I just do it now to confirm that his cell phone battery isn't dead.
After listening to it ring about 4 times I thought I heard it actually connect...but enough time stranded in L.A. traffic is bound to make anyone loopy.
"Over 200 years old...ya think the guy would know how to work a phone."
Well he was around for the invention of them...

Stopping at the door, I turned and looked at the phone wondering if I really wanted to pick it up. I didn't really know if I wanted to talk to anyone right now for some reason. What if it was a client? We hadn't had any clients in what seemed like forever. Maybe they didn't like the new "office"? After about four or five rings, I rushed over to the phone and picked it up. I started to say, "This is Angel Investigations how may we help you?" but instead I heard a familiar woman's voice on the other end.
"Over 200 years old...ya think the guy would know how to work a phone."
I don't think I was actually supposed to hear that, but I guess I did anyway. Smiling only slightly, I didn't even have to ask who it was on the other end.
"Cordy? Oh, you know it's the cell phone I can't stand, not this one."

So I was less loopy then I had thought--and apparently he heard my comment... Well, good!
"Cordy? Oh, you know it's the cell phone I can't stand, not this one."
"Yeah, we all know you'd be happier working a rotary phone, but it's time to live in the now, buddy."
Sighing I put my foot down on the accelerator lightly as traffic began to inch along.
I wonderer how Fred was doing after the whole...sight unseen Wes thing. I think I managed to royally miff him off when his none corporeal self showed up at the warehouse. Did Angel even know? I know I hadn't told him....but since more people were at Buffy's house that night then at Woodstock, word could have trickled its way down the grape vine.
"Done any socializing with the gang as of late? You know, chat with Fred...kill things with Gunn or seen Wesley?"

I smiled a little. It was nice to hear from Cordy. "Well, I was never one for change, you know."
She did sound a little irritated as she spoke. Guess I couldn't blame her. I remembered something about a meeting over at Buffy's house, but I just couldn't go. After what happened with Wesley, I didn't feel as if I would be of any help to anyone then.
"Done any socializing with the gang as of late? You know, chat with Fred...kill things with Gunn or seen Wesley?"
I frowned when she mentioned Wesley. She knew about what had happened to him just as I did, and yet she still decided to remind me. "No, Cordy, I haven't talked with anyone lately, and you know just as well as me that I wouldn't possibly be able to see Wesley."
Yes, I knew it sounded harsh, but shouldn't she have known better? I wasn't sure why she would even bring it up, unless she was implying about how I hadn't been around or talked with anyone lately. But yes, I did know about Wesley dying, and I wasn't really wanting to bring that subject back up again.
I tried to change the subject. "So, where exactly are you?"
