The warehouse was nothing more than.. empty. I sat at my desk, just sitting. This was basically my home since the hotel went down. I sure did miss my nice room, comfortable and private. Here seemed cold and exposed. I sat wondering exactly what to do with myself. We hadn't had a case in what seemed like forever, everyone now was out doing ( Read more... )

I lifted my head up from the steering wheel and eyed the phone harshly, as if the stern look could somehow be transfered to Mr. Dearly Departed on the other end. Actually, if we had those neat little camera phones he could...but I don't think more buttons on a phone is the answer here.

So I was less loopy then I had thought--and apparently he heard my comment... Well, good!

"Cordy? Oh, you know it's the cell phone I can't stand, not this one."

"Yeah, we all know you'd be happier working a rotary phone, but it's time to live in the now, buddy."

Sighing I put my foot down on the accelerator lightly as traffic began to inch along.

I wonderer how Fred was doing after the whole...sight unseen Wes thing. I think I managed to royally miff him off when his none corporeal self showed up at the warehouse. Did Angel even know? I know I hadn't told him....but since more people were at Buffy's house that night then at Woodstock, word could have trickled its way down the grape vine.

"Done any socializing with the gang as of late? You know, chat with Fred...kill things with Gunn or seen Wesley?"

"Yeah, we all know you'd be happier working a rotary phone, but it's time to live in the now, buddy."

I smiled a little. It was nice to hear from Cordy. "Well, I was never one for change, you know."

She did sound a little irritated as she spoke. Guess I couldn't blame her. I remembered something about a meeting over at Buffy's house, but I just couldn't go. After what happened with Wesley, I didn't feel as if I would be of any help to anyone then.

"Done any socializing with the gang as of late? You know, chat with Fred...kill things with Gunn or seen Wesley?"

I frowned when she mentioned Wesley. She knew about what had happened to him just as I did, and yet she still decided to remind me. "No, Cordy, I haven't talked with anyone lately, and you know just as well as me that I wouldn't possibly be able to see Wesley."

Yes, I knew it sounded harsh, but shouldn't she have known better? I wasn't sure why she would even bring it up, unless she was implying about how I hadn't been around or talked with anyone lately. But yes, I did know about Wesley dying, and I wasn't really wanting to bring that subject back up again.

I tried to change the subject. "So, where exactly are you?"
