Seriously, Harold Camping, you know that whole "No man knows the hour or the day" thing? I think God was serious about that.
Best thing ever? The new Rapture date is my Mom's birthday.
(Also, sorry in advance for a long entry. My formatting options aren't showing up, so I can't put an LJ cut in.)
So, I've kind of been MIA for weeks now. Sorry. I've spent the first few weeks of my Summer vacation alternating between being a complete vegetable and being insanely busy. I've spent a lot of time with my friends lately. Quite nice to see everyone again. Some of us went to see the new Pirates movie. I thought it was pretty good; not as good as the original (are sequels ever?), and I didn't like it as much as 'At World's End', but I thought it was a decent sequel and very entertaining, if slightly predictable. Barbossa in makeup was awesome. One of my friends, Chris, is a six-foot-something giant pirate. He's not muscular or fat, but he's just BIG. And I don't think he has shaved since Graduation two years ago (has it really been that long?), so he's got this massive red fuzzy beard, and his red hair is shoulder lenght, at least. He looks like a pirate, or a viking. He even has a "colonial" (read:Pirate) hat, and HE DIDN'T WEAR IT TO SEE THE MOVIE. We were appalled. The guy looks like a IRL pirate and he didn't wear his pirate hat to a pirate movie. Travesty.
POINT BEING: I'm back now. I've been at home in Chattown for most of the last few weeks. My family was spared the storm damage, but some of the people I know weren't so lucky. There's a HUMOUNGOUS tree in Dad's backyard that's gone, and my grandparents found a TON of debris in their yard, but that's it. I'm back in Franklin for a few days to pay rent and deal with stuff and have a few days away from Trey, and I'm trying not to be miserable. My air conditioner is out and I'm waiting on the maintenance guy to come fix it. I've got fans going but I'm burning up. I've got a sunburn on my shoulders that's starting to peel too, so that's no fun. I went walking the other morning for at least an hour, which was great except that now my back is sore and my shoulders are sunburnt. (I think I got burnt washing my car, actually.)
I started replaying Kingdom Hearts yesterday. Everytime I replay one of those games I'm reminded of how much I love them. I've replayed KH2 about 5 times; it's just that addictive. Wailing on heartless is such a stress relief. I'm also replaying 358/2 Days on my DS. And I found my new favorite moment in the series:
One day in the Grey Room, if you talk to Demyx, he'll ask you for a shining shard, or something. If you give it to him, he'll give you some other synthesis material in exchange, and he says something like, "Here, you can have this and we'll call it squaresies."
...
SQUARESIES.
CAN'T YOU JUST HEAR HIM SAYING THAT?
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I'm far too easily amused.
I've been doing a lot of writing for Doctor Who recently. The new season is just fantastic, and utterly mindblowing. (BBC AMERICA, Y U NO GIVE US NEW EPISODES? They were showing the new eps the same day they premiered in the UK, but didn't last week because it was Memorial Day weekend, so now we're a week behind. Don't they know that anyone who watches DW in the US would friggin watch even on Memorial Day weekend? So now all the American Whovians are back to watching pirated episodes online.) Anywho, the mid-series finale is Saturday, and I CAN'T WAIT. The cliffhanger at the end of last episode was brain-exploding, and next week we finally will discover who River Song is, after three and half years of wondering.
Most of what I've written will probably no longer be canon after next week, though. It might still be; I tried to keep things kind of general. It all depends on how insane River Song's true identity is.
I can't remember what else I was going to write. I blame the heat, but the maintenance guy just got here! YAAAAY!
