On the Eve of May
Today is again the time of year that people say summer can come. It's 30th of April, or as we Finns say, Eve of May. Merry Vappu! People around Finland are celebrating. It's for work and study.. and to be honest, it's mostly an excuse to get buzzed, drunk as skunk or how you say it.
My celebrations have been very peaceful. We got off work early and I started sewing new pillows for my outdoor sofa.. I'm almost done, so not bad work today. I will try to finish them tomorrow so I can spend time outside.
That is if I can survive after drinking a bottle of sparkling wine.
Part of me thinks it might seem lonely to someone, drinking alone when everyone else is celebrating somehow.. or if I think how my Vappu evenings used to be. Before kids. But actually, I've been enjoying listening radio show and reading my bookmarked fics and going out for a smoke or two sometimes. It's been rather hectic spring so having time and opportunity to just relax is amazing. Even if I might regret emptying the bottle of sparkling by myself, come tomorrow....
Also, if I don't have a jumongous headache tomorrow, I will use the national holiday and have my yearly Spring cleaning day. At least I need to wash the windows from the outside.
