Title
searching for recent entries

Short, concise description of the idea
When you perform any form of search you can search within a timeframe.

Full description of the idea
Currently when I go to http://www.livejournal.com/search/ and perform a search on interest I get results both from communities and users (which is great) but I also get results from journals that have not been updated in a very long time included in that results, I want to eliminate results appearing after a certain time frame.

For example if I search on the interest “books” it only gives me 377 results, now I am sure that there are more than 377 people/communities on LJ interested in books so obviously the results shown are restricted. Now if you look down tht list you will see some were updated minutes or hours ago, some a few days ago, but then we start getting into weeks, months. Looking at the bottom end of the results I see; never updated, updated 493 weeks ago, updated 477 weeks ago and so on… Why would I ever be interested in these communities that are obviously abandoned.

So my suggestions is to have something like that you have under the advanced search (http://www.livejournal.com/search/) and that is having a date range so I can view updated communities and journals within a date range that I select.

An ordered list of benefits
  • More accurate, relevant results
  • Useable results to find active users and communities
  • Remove dross and inactive communities and journals from your search
  • Easier to find what people are looking for
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • none that I can think of.
