Happy New Year Boys & Girls!!!

So...I've really stopped updating. I just haven't felt the need to. I think part of it has been a need just to use the internet less in general...which has been a nice break, but part of it just is the lack of anything to follow ( Read more... )

I am not required to take this class and I need to drop one class,( was going to drop minority problems) this is looking more and more like the one I drop. As much as I like Hoovdawg... Would you really dropit if you didn't have to have it?I mean it's the only 400 level class I have this semester and the only night class I have and I'm just not sure I want to fool with all the work he wants out of us my last semester. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, what to doooo, what to do.

First off, I'm going to tell you not to drop it because I seriously *heart* you & based on the people that are going to be in that class...it's going to be very interesting & I think you'd want to be there to laugh with me.

On a seriously unselfish level...if it's a choice between this and American Minority Groups, well...AMG is very easy. It's also pretty boring. This seems like it's going to be pretty consuming, but it's also going to be VERY interesting. But Dalton's is a MWF & it's, seriously, incredibly easy. I don't know what I would do. I think personally I'd take the Hoover class, because I see it as being more rewarding. Both, however, were required for me. So...

dunno.

I know I <3 you too and I was so excited when I found out we were going to be together in this class. I have no clue who else is in this class except Laura (and I can't stand her)

AMG=easy, last semester would be nice to have easy in last semester... Weird thing is I find myself trying to talk myself into dropping Hoovdawgs class and listing over and over the reasons to drop it and all are good reasons (best is it's Monday nights and I have CCW on Mon. and a thing I do with my Mon-stampin' up on Mon.) But I still want to take it, I ordered the book, it's on it's way. I am still planning on picking up the map. I figure I have time. I will go to both classes and see which one is worse and drop which ever one I hate more. Or really looke at all of my syllabi when I get them and drop something else. I also look at it like the AMG fits more with my major and minor and Hoov was just cause it sounded good and I like him. I just don't know. ARGH! Decisions SUCK!

See, that's just it. I'm not fond of her either, & I just got out of another class with her & several of the girls that are in our class (that also dislike her) and it was hysterical because she was always quippin' off stuff that made no sense & then we all sort of, well, debated why it made no sense. It was entertaining.

I have yet to buy my books. I'm waiting on less poorness to see if I can get some of them offline. You'll have a problem with dropping Hoov's because it'll be almost Feb. before we even attend.

I saw him today & totally whined about having to start early. He laughed. Good times.

*L* I have not purchased any of my books except the one for that class. I have no money right now either, plus I don't know what books I need yet.
When does the bookstore open so I can find out what I need?

I figure I'll go to the first of each class and see...then maybe... if it wasn't so damn much to take extra hours I'd just take the extra class.

*L*

And whine you should. All that work is ridiculous.

they've already opened back. They'll be open Monday 8-4:30, I think. We've gotta go Monday to do final registration, & i'm going to check then. I've got like 7 books I can get online pretty cheap, they're novels. I just have to check & see if they're the same.

I hadn't realized, campus always looks so dead everytime I'm down there, and the SAC sure doesn't ever look like it has any lights on or such. Yeah I was thinking it would be open during Registration. I am going to write down what books I need-ISBN's. Hoping not too many new ones. And the costs to see what they will cost on-line. I am a big bargain shopper don'cha know ;)

yeah, it's incredibly scary. I learned that this summer during my AO expedition. We're going today as well, though we'll go ahead & use fin. aid to buy most of ours...I'm going to see which I can get online though.

I only need to get one book from the bookstore, I found all the rest online for MUCH (the cost of just one of the books) cheaper. Bookstore prices suck.
Heck one I've read before for another class, unfortuneately I didn't keep it. And Jake is letting me borrow his Marriage and Family book.
I'm lookind forward to getting back to classes. Don't forget to pick up that map. My book for Hoovdawg's class came today.

I second Jamie on it'll be boring. I took AMG my first... no... 2nd... semester at CN. It's one of those classes that I thought was good and everything, but honestly it's part of what made me drop my soc major. I just felt like there was something I was missing and I wasn't learning everything I should have been.

OK, I don't want it to be that boring, I just want an easy A. Not an A I actually have to work for, earn and learn for. ;) I have heard Dalton is boring as hell, I have managed to stay away so far, and had hoped to continue, but...

Oh it is an easy A. I don't think I ever made anything less than an A in one of Dalton's classes. And maybe you'd like his style. It's very reliant on student discussion. Which personally I felt gypped doing it that way. I want the prof to tell me what I need to learn and if discussion springs, great. But then I want the prof to reign it in and be like "That's great and everything and everyone had some great points. This is what I was getting at and my point..." but he never did that. It was very much reliant on the reading and discussion. Which I sucked at both. So I just kind of floundered and BSed my way through ( ... )

I like student discussion, it's fun, as long as you are not graded on things that are never discussed or you are graded on things that never come up but he intended to come up. I like to just go with the flow.

I can't think of any prof talking to me about my goals, really. Hoov did, when I asked hiom if I should put off graduating a semester to add Human services as a Major. He advised that in my field it was fine as a minor...and he wasn't even my advisor, just a friend. This is why I like Hoovdawg.

Yeah, I agree. It's an easy A. I mean, this is the man that said he'd give me an A if I missed the final. Come on, Monica. :) However, I have heard that he's boring...and it's not so much that HE'S boring (other than a love of Chicago...an obsessive love of Chicago...) it's that his classes are quite discussion/group based & if you're around people or in a class that doesn't have a lot to say, well, then sometimes there's not a lot said.

*L* Yeah but that could just be a matter of being a teachers pet. :P
Chicago stories could become really annoying.
Discussion classes can be boring, but you know me, I talk enough for 10 people. :D
