room, and shallow messages

Even though it is long gone and done with, since I did this for all the previous years, my room, senior year:

Posters I had in my room: Entourage, Prison Break, Spy Game, Casino Royale, The Dark Knight, and one of Manhattan at night. The flat blue thing on the floor in the second picture is the bedsheet-covered futon mattress for guests and for watching TV on. Ahh I miss that mattress :(

I enjoy reading Gives Me Hope every now and then because I do come across stories that, well, GMH, but then there's a bunch of stupid shit like this one, part of this whole "movement" of people leaving "You're beautiful" messages. Which is sweet in sentiment or whatever, but the methods they use usually create trash for other people to clean up. Case in point - AWWW some girl smiled at your lipstick message. Maybe she was smiling cuz she liked the color of the lipstick. Or maybe she was smiling because she just walked in on some girl defacing the mirror, and what else are you gonna do except awkwardly grin and get the hell outta there. And I sure as hell doubt the janitor walks in and smiles and thinks, aw, I'm beautiful, that makes me feel really good about cleaning your mess up. And some commenter jumps in all "I'm going to write on mirrors too!" 1) Clearly they have no idea of how hard it is to clean lipstick off a mirror and give no thought to the people who have to clean up after them, 2) What a waste of lipstick, unless it's cheap crap. You know what's a BETTER thing to do instead of scribbling a pretty superficial comment on surfaces? How's showing a little consideration for other people sound?

ETA: OMG! I know why I'm posting every day this week. It is JUST LIKE when I always wrote other stuff when I had essays and articles due. I work on everything and anything else besides the assignment that has a deadline. Just like now! My app is due in less than 24 hours, and I'm posting! ARHGHSDF! I gotta get my head together and prioritize.
