So it looks like I'll be in Shanghai for the next year. I don't know how I feel about that yet. To be honest, I haven't given it a lot of thought, what with finals and graduation coming up - and I don't want to think about it, even though I know the whole denial thing is irresponsible. The only thing I know for sure I'm glad about at the moment: Simba! Yes indeedy, it will be me and my dog because apparently I have friends in Beijing and Hong Kong but not Shanghai :(
Anyway, I picked up my passport with the visa today. It's such a pain in the ass to get to the consulate, since I'm on 1st and it's on 12th. Picking up the visa was more or less an in and out thing, but travel time was 30 minutes going and returning with rain in my face. LAME!
re: school
As of right now, I have one class down and done with. 3 more to go! And I should be done with everything by this weekend. I won't lie, it's been pretty rough going, a lot of 4 A.M. bedtimes and excellent red wine supplied by Claire. After Wednesday, the going is gonna be much easier. Hell yes.
Another thing I'll be glad to get back to Asia for: food. Of course, the food. Cheap eats abound. But nothing beats hot pot at home.
No cheap meats for mom's hot pot!
This is just the starter. More stuff is added. Like the meat of course, and my yu tou gao (taro), which no one else in the family likes.
