spring 2009 food post

I've been meaning to do a food post for a while, and of course I save it until when I have an 18-page paper due. I was going through pictures I took over winter break and oh man, I miss food from back home. But! Food here rocks a lot too :D

Also, my restaurant business card collection is now about 2 inches thick :D I'm really proud of it. I'm gonna get one of those business card holders with glossy plastic sheets for it.

Shake Shack in Madison Square Park that I had with legendairy over spring break. We shared the Concrete Jungle, and it was good. GOD, it was good. Looking at it now, I just want to fall face first into it.

Jean-Georges by Columbus Circle on Saturday. I had the salmon, organic roasted chicken, and chocolate peanut cake for dessert. Holy yum. Unfortunately, didn't bring camera and didn't remember I could take pictures with the cell phone until dessert.

We ate at Momofoku Noodle Bar this past weekend, and it was amazing, especially their appetizer of steamed pork buns.

Pasta at Teresa's in Princeton, when I went to visit my sister there. Left is what she ordered, which I thought was much better than mine. It was Conchiglie Balsamico, shell shaped pasta, Raised Right chicken, asparagus, balsamic cream. I had Penne Pecorino, which was also good (bay scallops, shrimp, roma tomato, spinach, roasted garlic, pecorino cheese), but the balsamic cream in hers made all the difference.

Wine and homemade crepes (there was also homemade chocolate) made by Claire! Ok, she made it for her boyfriend on Valentine's Day and as the single roommate, I got to have some. She made a ton, so we actually continued eating them the day after.

Cupcakes a friend got. I can't remember where they're from. Crumbs, maybe? No idea, have to look into it.

Also, I recently came to the realization that:

Cam has:
- sat next to Tyra Banks in a restaurant
- seen Nicholas Cage in a restaurant
- seen Rachel Weisz in a restaurant
- seen Hugh Grant filming, screamed HUGH GRANT!!!!, and prematurely ended the scene

Whereas I've seen:
- 2006: Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa's husband, working out in the gym room at Time Warner building. Was with Cam at the time, so I don't think this incident counts as "my" celebrity sighting
- 2009: Eric van der Woodsen eating two tables away at The Smith (sooo good, have to go back) for brunch. Was with Claire, wouldn't have noticed if Claire hadn't said, "Isn't that Eric?" So once again, this one doesn't count; I wouldn't even mention it if not for the fact that I'll take 'em where I get them.

I didn't even get to see Nic Cage when he was filming around Washington Square Park. Or Will Smith. Or Sex & The City. Or anyone. :((((
