Amazon says that a new Liaden Universe novel is coming.  They've got a title, photo, and pre-order price guarantee, but no release date.  From the current description, it doesn't seem to be a Korval novel, or to reference any known characters or places.  It sounds very YA, actually.

Robin McKinley has a new novel, Chalice (Hardcover, Putnam Juvenile, 272 pages), to be released on September 18.  It's a fantasy alternate universe, and the heroine looks to be a young beekeeper recruited into a religious/magical position in a crisis.

Amazon lists an upcoming new fantasy novel by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, Duainfey, to be published by Baen (which publishes Bujold's scifi, but not her fantasy) in September.  It is to be the first of two.

Partners in Necessity by Lee and Miller is available for order direct from Amazon again.  This means Amazon bought up an existing stock from somewhere; the listing is of the '06 re-issue Meisha Merlin edition, and it says "usually ships within 3 to 6 weeks."  It would be nice if it meant they had found a new distributor/publisher, too, but the ( Read more... )

Why are all but the most recent Sharon Lee and Steve Miller novels out of print?  Why are these not popular enough to be available?  The library doesn't have them, and the secondary sellers seem to know they're out of print and price accordingly.  This is because they work with a smaller, independent press, isn't it ( Read more... )
