- So. It has been winter for approximately 47 months, and it is still only February. People keep saying that spring is on its way, but I know that is a lie. There is no spring. Only winter. Forever. I can't even get excited that the sun is now most of the way up in the morning when my alarm goes off, because I know that in a week-and-a-half the clocks will go back, and I will once again be waking up in the dark. Some people say that it is a fair trade-off for having more daylight into the evening, but I do. not. care about evening sun when I am hauling myself out of bed into blackness in preparation for hauling myself out of the house into frigidness.
TL;DR: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
- In other news, Wheeler, my precious baby car, turns five in March, and we had our first accident last week. A young man changed lanes into me on my passenger side. No injuries, very little visible damage, but the estimate I got for repairs was $1,500.00. So expensiiiiiiiiiive. The young man's father has given me a cheque for $1,500.00 to avoid going through insurance, so hopefully... I don't know. Really, it's just annoying to deal with, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do, and it all seems kind of hard, but also not at all urgent. Also, I got very Canadian about it, and it was all I could do to refrain from apologizing for allowing him to run into me. I know, intellectually, that it was not in any way my fault, but man, did my brain work overtime trying to find a way that it was TOTALLY my fault. Like, even if not physically, then karmically. Ugh. Also, the very first thing that happened when we got out of our vehicles was him saying, "I'm sorry!" and me responding, "It's okay." WTF. Anyway. All very amicable. Now I just have to do the part where I actually get my car fixed.
TL;DR: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah in a car.
- Also, my mother is going to Mexico for a week(ish), which means that tomorrow I must pack up my cat and move into the house to stay with my dad while she is gone. I predict that Molly will get over her rage at this turn of events about 16 hours before I pack her back up and go home. Dads will be excited to have someone to watch TV with, even if it means I make him watch Teen Wolf (he watched all of S1 with me, bitching the whole way through, even though nobody was making him watch it), and I think I will be able to finish knitting a pair of socks (I am about 1/4 of the way through the second sock).
- What else can I tell you? Today I bought a $12 slow cooker at the grocery store. I am sure this will be a quality small appliance that will give me no trouble at all. I also bought a $12 tank top. Grocery stores are the best. I watched 10 minutes of hockey during the Olympics (end of the men's gold medal game), which is probably the last 10 minutes of hockey I will watch until the next Winter Olympics. We are all very proud of Drew Doughty (hometown boy), though. I suspect he is not really on the radar for those of you in the hockey fandom, as he plays for the LA Kings, and I feel like that is not one of your preferred teams (but I might be wrong! I mostly skim those posts, but have seen a lot of Ovi, Geno, Tazer, Kaner, Sidney Crosby), but he is so smiley.
I think that is all for now. :)
