So, Project Keeping Track of 2011: Books Edition. I started out the year reading books from the collection at my grandparents' house, which were not books I would have picked under other circumstances. They have a lot of murder mysteries, Louis L'Amour books, self-help books, and Reader's Digest condensed books. I stuck to the murder mysteries, mostly.
To Say Nothing of the Dog is NOT a murder mystery, and is actually really good. It's a time-travelling novel where the main character spends most of his time in a comedy of errors in Victorian England (I think it was the Victorian era), and it's pretty awesome. I would read another book by Connie Willis.
The Best of Sherlock Holmes made one thing very clear to me: if I were Watson, I would punch Sherlock Holmes in the face and spend more time with my wife. SHUT UP, SHERLOCK HOLMES.
The Widow's Mate was... standard? It was a murder mystery, the least likely suspect did it, blah blah blah.
'B' Is For Burglar was also pretty standard. I'm not really a murder mystery fan, I guess. Except for the occasional historical murder mystery, like the ones by Ariana Franklin. She's pretty good at it. Sue Grafton is... popular? Yeah.
It is worth noting, though, that I read 4.5 books in three days at my grandparents' house, and since returning to my house, with the television and the internet, I have only managed to read the remaining half of the last book I started reading there, and have not started another. That is something I need to work on.
