When Sokka foisted the babies off on their parents, Zuko was happy to be foisted upon! He's the stay-at-home dad-- and by stay at home, we mean stay on the roof, and by stay on the roof we mean 'because he's a cripple who can't really climb down easily, let alone with two kids'.
That doesn't mean he's not happy about where he is, or that the sun is shining, or that the girls are burbling at him, or... Any other thing. He's pretty content up here.
But it does get kind of lonely. He hasn't met many people here... but it's a bloody pain to get down.
Maybe later, he decides. Maybe later he'll try not to break his neck. But not with the babies. The babies are with him for now, while Sokka and Mel wander. And he's fine with that.
