I didn't watch Eurovision this year. To be honest, I didn't realize Eurovision aired on May 14 until I saw mysticowl's tweets a day later. Which is kind of shame. On Saturday, European countries (and Australia, for some reason) faced off against each other for the 60th time in the Eurovision song contest. Sweden won, with Russia coming in close second.

Personally, I wasn't that impressed with Sweden's entry. As for Russia's entry, "A Million Voices" - the song is not subtle. And oh so very political. But ( Read more... )

Every year, the Eurovision international singing contest has a performance that is so bizarre it becomes viral. A few years ago, it was DJ Bobbo's "Vampires are Alive." I am kind of intrigued by the Ukrainian entry for this year's Eurovision contest. I am impressed with the singer, but she is hamstrung by having to sing in a language she doesn't seem to really understand. I suspect the song would have sounded much better in Ukrainian.
