I love movies! (but not Man of Steel)
Summer is here and the blockbuster movie season began last month. I've seen most of the big movies that have come out so far. I don't get the hype around the new superman movie. I thought it was boring! (so did the other 5 people I saw it with - in fact Brett fell asleep) Yet on the discussion boards I've read most people seem to like it.
The fight scenes went on forever. Just two guys, Zod and Kal, punching each other in the middle of Metropolis. I couldn't even estimate how many people died! At least in Avengers they tried to get people to safety. Superman doesn't even try to lead Zod away to a less populated area.
Jonathan Kent as played by Kevin Cosner dies in the stupidest way. A tornado is coming and he goes to rescue a dog and won't let Clark save him so he gets sucked up by the tornado. In the original mythology he dies of a heart attack - it's important because it shows Clark he can't save everyone. In MoS, his dad dies to protect a secret that really doesn't need protecting especially not in the paranoid "Clark will become a goverment lab rat" kind of way that Jonathan seems sure would occur.
MoS really was just too long and truthfully supes' origin story has been done to death - and it certainly wasn't done better. But mostly it was humorless. Maybe I just like my super heroes snarky and quippy (I'm looking at you Ironman, you're awesome!!)but this superman is so serious and remote - I didn't like him at all.
PLUS he kills zod!!! Superman would never do that and it doesn't make him more edgy. It just makes him not superman.
Ironman 3 was awesome go see it or Star Trek instead. This is the End was hilarious and even Fast and Furious 6 was more fun
