Horatio awoke in the wee hours of the morning. He was unclothed, which was not unusual, but as he moved he could feel a fine layer of salt all over his body and in his hair. Horatio sat up slowly and placed his chin on his knees. He knew how the salt had come to be there. He remembered everything.

He remembered bathing naked in the sea with Anne and Ariel. He remembered taking Leoben's moonshine. He remembered kissing Joe's cheek. He remembered all that he had done with Ray and Fraser.

He also remembered laughing, even singing in his terrible voice, and being lighter and more carefree than he had ever been in his life. Many events of the past two days were deeply shocking, and yet...Horatio almost felt a bit of fondness as he recounted them in his mind. The remembrance of most events brought a blush to his cheeks, but Horatio found he could not quite bring himself to regret them.

He breathed deeply and wrapped his arms around his legs. He would not find sleep again, soon.
