Question of little importance but indulge me, I'm just curious: How do ya'll pronounce "civilisation"? Linguistics and phonetics have always fascinated me :)
See, I like when there aren't any racial differences, or at least when they're not played upon that much (or not mentioned, I guess). I think I like Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld because they don't rely on mating human women to subsist (at least, not as far as I've read?) I like when there are challenges between races and they figure out how to overcome it (i.e. that dude in the LotU series who can't touch anyone).
Oh I like men protecting their females; that's pretty much ingrained in humans whether feminists agree or not and, I agree, it's sexy and adorable. Hmm, sure the woman wields a ton of power but it's just not fair I guess that women can't be vampires in the Midnight Breed series. Or give birth to girls.
IIRC the Scribe Virgin created the vampire race out of thin air, pretty much, because she had the power of creation (vs. her brother Omega's power of destruction or death I think?) and wanted to enjoy mothering a race like her father's (God?). So they're pretty much a sister race to humans.
That is true. I guess I just saw it as a difference and left it at that. I really don't mind. Though, I agree that it is sad these women never get to have baby girls and then there is no daddies girl.
Hmmmm.... Okay I thought there was an alien reference but maybe I'm confusing the series.
I really hope you like the Riley Jensen series because at book two it just becomes so much better.

I know I've re-read Z's book maaaaany times :) The cover's a bit scuffed :S
Haha I know, there aren't a lot of people on my flist who like reading or the same books I do. I recced BDB to a friend and she read Wrath's and gave up even when I told her I hated that book too. I should have told her to start with Z ;P Or any of the latter ones, really.
She gave up! No way. I didn't like Wrath's book either but I figured out a long time ago that the first book has to introduce a lot and so it is often the worst one. The only exception being Outlander. *lol*
I tend to read books out of order because I'll hook onto something in the synopsis of one book and then decide as I read it whether I'm prepared to subscribe to the whole thing. I certainly landed on jackpot by picking Z's book first. So proud of myself for that!
I just started the Riley Jenson book btw. I think I'm about a third in. Very reminiscent of this one Laurell K Hamilton book I picked up once... sex all the time with anyone! I suppose she'll settle down with Quinn though, mm? He sounds scrumptious :) They've just broken Rhoan out of that cloning place. BTW I totally call that Talon removed her anti-preggers chip and tried to impregnate her. :P
I've only read the first LKH book and I wasn't into it but I'm going to try more of her series.
I love Quinn but there is just a ton going on it this series. She's a young wolf who wants to be wild and free but it gets better and she calms a little which I like.
I called that too but, as I said, this is the worst of the books and the ones to come are more interesting and a little more mysterious.

Uh oh. I'll just have to read and see won't I :S
