The Little Mermaid

Being a student has some advantages - I got discounted tickets to Disney's Little Mermaid. The title character (Sierra) was out, but Sherie Rene Scott was the main name that I knew, and while she does a mean Ursula, I've seen her in better roles.

There has been mixed reviews on this show, so I didn't go with many expectations. We had high seats which was probably good for the overall effectiveness of the ocean scenes. It was full of color and modern technological set design. I expected more cables for the fish, rather than wheelies and amusement park rides, but I wasn't the designer.

I thought Prince Eric's "man overboard" scene was done very well, and enjoyed a new song "She's in Love" given to Flounder and the Sisters. Very snappy. They even tried out a mature quartet in Act II to get away from a childrens' show. I liked it much better than Beauty and The Beast.

I will contemplate taking Ciara at a later time. There were a few slow moments (even for me) and she still lacks the patience for me to spend that much money on her.

Patrick and I hit Bangkok House prior and drove a fellow student (Shirlene & daughter) home. We then packed for the Berkshires.
