Tuesday afternoon I made a reservation for Berkshires and began to straighten up in preparation for the arrival of
Deege.
Steve was back and we discussed the future of the C4 workshop now that the Mayers would be going to Florida for the winter. If 2 people are out, we are down, and both Robert and Gil were taking the month of November off. This means no dancing until December unless I filled in, which I agreed to do, if people wanted to dance. Chuck was uncomfortable with this arrangement since his mom is in the hospital for heart work (a problem with her mitral/bicuspid valve - which is the valve that connects the left atrium to the left ventricle and stops the backflow of oxygenated blood reentering the pulmonary circuit), and he didn’t want to be responsible for last minute cancellations. The group was okay with that.
Wednesday I cleaned up the guest bathroom a bit. I hit A&P and threw together the tater tot casserole for dinner. Daniel was originally unsure of his arrival time, but it would be there if needed. Esther kept commenting how good it smelled, but she wouldn’t try any due to calorie content.
bearfuz finally made it back for a C2 dance, and Robert joined in for a bit as well. We did not have to send Daniel into the penalty box.
The TV repairmen came back and installed the new power supply circuit board. We have a working plasma again and are $350 lighter. Patrick feels we should keep the system unplugged when not in use. Even though we have a major surge protector in place, LG seemed to think there are intermittent power surges that could cause problems.
Thursday I met Daniel in the city for a late lunch. We met at Barnes & Noble, as he had some appointments to take care of. I was able to find a book for my niece that I had been looking for during past holidays. I grew up with Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever, and I wanted Ciara to experience it. It’s a picture book filled with themed pages and plenty of nouns written out next to their pictures.
Daniel took me to an underground restaurant in the Village for lunch. I ended up really enjoying Tanti Baci Caffe. I had homemade meat ravioli with a pesto sauce. I will be taking Patrick to this quaint Italian place. We then made our way over to Bleecker where Patrick and I shared our first apartment. Daniel wanted to visit one of four pastry cafes at the MacDougal intersection. Unfortunately Qdoba and other establishments had replaced them all. We ended up at La Lanterna where I had profiteroles and he partook of bread pudding with mint-laced cocoa. I had never really passed time this leisurely just chatting and dining in the middle of the afternoon. I had to help him get out of his jacket as he was experiencing teeth problems (and so soon after a dental visit! ;-) ) We then killed some time perusing a bargain bin in a CD shop. I picked up Shakira, Duncan Shiek and Regina Belle.
That evening the C3 group did some of my PACE dance. The Mayers are in this workshop as well, and the future of Thursday evening dances is also looking grim as the ability to find 8 high level dancers diminishes.
On Friday Daniel and I met Patrick for lunch at Amiya where two of us checked out their buffet. He then accompanied me to school where I hoped to acquire a photo dry-erase board. Student Activities had incorrect dates on their fliers. I need to go back on Monday if I want one. Back at home we went through another few years of photo albums. I wanted to show him pictures of the NY apartment. It was interesting to check out the Times Squares group convention photos and see how the club grew and changed. There was a time when we did participate in wearing the club shirt and getting in the picture.
