A maintenance person came to fix the loose kitchen faucet yesterday. He had to replace the whole tap, and now every time I use the sink I have that subtle feeling of things being just not quite right.

I tried to open the balcony sliding door to assess snow before taking the dog out. The door wouldn't open. It's iced closed and there is significant ice on the inside of the lower corner by the wall. Looks like the windows in the other rooms have ice on the bottom interior too.

The buzzer on our apartment is not working. I just realized this yesterday and or makes it hard to get deliveries! I just taped a note to the door asking the two drivers we're expecting today to call me if at all possible.

Question for folks who may know: our ceilings looks like this. Are they soundproofing panels maybe?

I feel like a doofus for not tweaking our heating system earlier.

We have hot water radiators, which I've never dealt with before. Our apartment has also been consistently cold the whole time we've been here. The temperature wouldn't get above 19, even if we tried setting the thermostat higher.

I scouted out the location of our garbage and recycling bins. I returned with a 46" TV that was sitting by the receptacles. Plugging it in, I found that it seemed to work well other than a bad backlight affecting the right quarter of the screen. These are in my little studio apartment, hooked up to my Marantz 2220. 14" woofers with ducted ports. I turn the bass knob all the way down to nothing after 8 o'clock or so. They were my grandfather's and that connection to him makes me happy. Plus, listening to horrid little computer speakers gives me a headache after long enough ( Read more... )
