Adventures in GIMPing
I am slowly but surely learning to use this GIMP thing, man. It is really cool, even though some of the features are a little more hiddenish (or it could just be my lack of experience with decent graphic programs!). I did a bunch more experimenting with my screencaps and I'm pretty happy with the final result, even if I feel slightly plagiaristic.
As I have mentioned before, I'm all sorts of addicted to reading other people's Sim legacies and I found shoefleesims's legacy and she has some awesome screencaps. I particularly like how she did her character intro graphics where she writes the Sim's name, their personality points, turn-ons, etc. so I decided to practice making one like that. I messed with that thing for A WHILE, man, but I'm kind of happy with the end result! And I will upload it to my LJ ScrapBook thing to test that thing out.
Yeah, I still like shoefleesims's much better. But it was my first try, right!? Right!? I just can't get my favorite fonts to look nice here and this font is cool but it seems kind of...crowded and perhaps hard to read? Maybe not? Anyway, this would be the one I'd be using for now. I want to make one for all of the dormies because I am their fan. I cheated and made them all selectable to find out their stats and now I feel like they all have even more fleshed out personalities. Laura Brides the Atrociously Evil Witch is kind of a huge snob and has no chemistry with anyone in the dorm at all and is friends with no one. Mark Caldwell has friends but he's MEAN and kind of a wannabe rock star and I think the only person he has 2 bolts of chemistry with was actually Siggy. He's actually BFFs with Siggy (and Byron the Vampire) so now I'm concerned he's going to try to hit on her in front of her boyfriend Clyde and then they'll break up. You keep that jank PLATONIC, Mark Caldwell! Although he's really cute too, so I wouldn't mind having him in the legacy or whatever but...no. No way. He's super sloppy and he's a total grouch (0 points!).
And it's so cute! There's 3 more couples at the dorm besides Siggy and Clyde. Nick the Happy Zombie and Maria the Snobby Vampire are totally in love~! But I'm sad for her because I looked at Nick's wants and his want is currently to propose to Sieglinde. Um... Nick. I know you guys are BFFs and she was your first WooHoo (thanks to ACR and me spacing out) but...she's engaged to Clyde now and you and Sieglinde only have 1 bolt of chemistry and you have 2 bolts with Maria! She's, like, your SOULMATE. Forget my grouchy daughter! And then I think Vanessa the Zombie of Justice might actually have a thing for Mark. And I KNOW Harry Wilkerson the Goofy Zombie and Dawn Potter up there are in love and they both want to propose to the other and it's just so beautiful.
