Getting from London to Exter wasn't very difficult. The trek from Exter to Stoatshead or Ottery St. Catchpool, as his cabdriver called it, was a bit more difficult. Starting with fending off inquries of why he wasn't in school, or where his parents were, the last a subject Dennis was in now way ready to indulge in, much less with a stranger.

It was even more arduous getting the driver to leave him in the middle of no man's land with his bike, than it had been to get the man to tie it to the roof of the cab. Finally after a tall tale of a time bike race from different points and a hefty tip, the driver left with mutterings of "crazy schoolboys, wasteland, ghost town"

As Dennis began his ride with his air mattress tied to the back basket and his knapsack slung acroos his back, he wondered idly:What did happen to all the ghosts? Wonder where they went?Soon these wonderings were replaces with other thoughts, among them: how difficult it was to keep balance on a bicycle when you had a load like that ( ... )

When Colin saw Dennis standing there he immediately reached out and pulled his brother into a big hug, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and pulling him close for several minutes. He was finally here, he really was alive and gods he was here. Colin felt tears burn in the corners of his eyes and he pulled away wiping at them.

He didn't really know what to say now that Dennis was here in front of him. He just kept grinning like an idiot and doing his best not to cry.

"Well, come in then." He motioned for Dennis to come inside. "Merlin, it's good to see you, Den. You don't know how much I've missed you."

Dennis didn't have time to think; he only got a brief glimpse of Colin before he was enveloped in a hug. Relaxing into it, he could feel the slight tightness in his chest loosen. God's he'd missed Colin, missed this. It always befuddled him that people could go through life without showing any outward signs of affection.

Blessedly, in his family that had never been a problem. Relieved to see that Colin's eyes looked a bit watery too (so he wasn't the only one).

Stepping inside, he grinned at Colin.

"Wanna bet? I missed you more, or maybe we can call it a draw?"

Colin smirked, "Well maybe you did, you always were a bit of a pansy." He grinned and ruffled his brother's hair as he lead him into the house.

All the tension and worries he'd had about dennis for so long slipped away as they talked. He pulled Dennis into the hallway and held him at arms length looking him over.

"Need to give you a good look, I haven't seen you in so long. I'm worried I might have forgotten something important." He grinned.

"I guess pot's don't change their colors either."

Though he'd been looking forward to this day, he wished he could skip Colin's perusal of him. He knew what the judgement would be. Colin was as protective, sometimes more so, than their Dad, just in his own way. Dennis knew Colin would take in that he'd lost weight, what could he say? Hospital food and he didn't get along and it always took a while before he got his appetite back.

Colin himself, didn't look the worse for wear. He actually looked well taken care of, which was a huge relief. Dennis could stop worrying now that his big brother would be hexed or be taken from him by that blasted war.

"Yeah, I'm still short. But you can't say anything cause we all know you got in the way of one of Hagrid's Engorgio spells."

Colin grinned, it seemed like even months without contact didn't keep them from joking with one another, emotions aside.

"Well you look a little thin, but Romilda can fix that in a snap." He was a bit worried about his brother, even as he joked about it. He just wanted to make sure Dennis was taking care of himself.

"Dennis ... I'm hurt." Colin feigned a wounded look when Dnnis said he'd stepped in front of an Engorgio. "You think this height isn't natural? I believe, little brother, that you are the odd member of the family." He smirked.

"Well come on in, I'll give you a tour of the house."

Colin was more than happy to ramble on and on about Cormac and Romilda and most of all Liam. He really wanted Dennis to adore them all as much as he did. Soon he he had decided he'd rambled on enough about them, and it was probably about time he stopped monopolizing the conversation ( ... )

Colin smirked seeing Dennis flush when he asked if he was seeing anyone, and as much as he might have enjoyed teasing him about it. Colin decided he would leave him be for now.

"Yeah they're classes. You should owl McGonagall, she'd know best about classes and the like to get you up to at least OWL level."

When Colin tried to give him a hard time about not taking the money Colin just shook his head and grinned. "Of course I wouldn't take it, does it look like I need it?" Colin gestured to the house. With the three of them working they never had any real trouble getting by.

"Of course we don't mind, and I'd love to have you as long as you'll stay. And do you really think I'd let me own brother sleep on an air mattress in my house? We've got plenty of beds. We'll figure something out, alright?" Colin gave him a look that said he wouldn't take no for an answer, so Dennis had better not even bother.
