Date: November 28, 2004 Characters: Megan, Zach Location: 2-B River Place Status: Private Summary: Megan keeps her mind off of ex-husbands by helping Zach clean up. Completion: Incomplete
Zacharias was in the process of moving a bag of clothing into his room (socks, underwear, etc) when he heard the knock. He dumped the bag in the middle of his room before he went back out, frowning, wondering who coud be visiting him.
As he came closer to the door, he heard a little voice that sounded awfully familiar. He smiled, and opened the door, expecting to see Ben, Bob, and Terry.
"Hey," He said as he opened it, and looked right into Megan's face, wondering what she was doing there. He blinked in surprise.
"Hi," Megan said, feeling oddly shy all of a sudden. "I thought we might - "
"Funny man!" Ben shouted, and threw his arms around Zach's legs. "Can we see the bunnies? And hunt for treasure?"
"Ben! We're here to help clean up!" She offered Zach an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I figured since I'm just a few floors up, I might - if this is a bad time, we can come back, or not, or..."
"Uh." Zacharias stumbled back a bit, his hands splayed out because he didn't know what to do with them. He looked at Megan for a bit before smiling slightly down at Ben. "Uh sure. Go ahead."
He glanced back at Megan as Ben went off into his apartment, and he opened his door more for her. "It's safe, come on in. He can look around. He probably knows my flat better than I do." Zacharias muttered.
"Oh, it's the same layout as ours," Megan noted as she entered. "Sorry about Ben... he really seems to like you." She hoped Zach didn't mind too much, since having someone around that was comfortable with Ben could really be invaluable. Especially a guy, now that the whole thing with Terry was being finalized.
"You know, I gathered from what you said the other day that you weren't quite moved in, but I didn't really know what to expect." She looked around the room and then smiled at Zach again. "So what do you want me to do?"
Megan moved closer to Zach, wondering what it was he wasn't saying. "Did you?"
What were you supposed to say when an old school chum bumped into your soon-to-be-ex husband? Should she ask how he was? Probably not. Megan sighed. She wished this wasn't all so confusing.
"I guess I'll be getting that from a lot of people in the future. Small town, and all that." She offered Zach a weak smile. "Um, did you want help in any of the other rooms?"
"About the divorce? Like you might expect, I guess." Ben glanced up when she said the d-word, but Megan gave him an encouraging smile. They'd discussed this, after all. "It's just... there was some stuff I didn't expect."
Zacharias looked at her then, his hands in his pockets. "And how are you taking that particular aspect?" He muttered quietly, aware that Ben was a little more quiet, a little more interested.
