Okay, I was a good girl and paid attention during the first half of class, but at break I took the time to download my preordered album "Pretty Odd" by Panic at the Disco; which I've only listened to a little bit and hoping I won't hate it--i knew it was going to be very different than their first, and it definitely does have that Beetles sound like I had heard it would (my sister and her friend's explanation is that Panic must have seen "Across the Universe" between making their album and fell in love with the movie XD--but I'm hoping I'll like it more than I like the Beetles music.
While doing so, this led to me surfing around iTunes for a little bit when it started downloading, and I then stumbled onto the TV Shows section (which i virtually never go in despite having a video iPod--i mostly got one to play music videos, and I did download the HSM2 movie since the DVD won't play in my laptop but that was the extent of my non-music iTunes expierience). To my utter shock, half-hour episodes cost about the same amount as music videos (which means iTunes is totally ripping us off on music videos...possibly just giving away TV shows, but I think it's more ripping us off...XD).
Now, my mom gave me an iTunes giftcard for Easter, and after buying the Pretty Odd album (and a few other things) I had about roughly 8 dollars left on it. Lately, I've been brainstorming this story like crazy, or rather this character who is based on a combination of Luna Lovegood, Mary Lennox (of The Secret Garden), Carly Shay (of the titular iCarly), and an old character I made years ago. I didn't realize she shared characteristics of Carly though until i ended up watching iCarly last night and noticed the similarities.
(XD To the extent that my character's name is now Stella Cosgrove, surname(d) after Miranda. The character I'm thinking of making the main one in a Children's/Young Adult series with her dealing with situations that are less-than-children/tween/young adult, implying serious themes like runaway/throwaway children, homosexuality&gay bashing, child abuse (sexual, emotional, and physical), as well as typical "popularity" and "being yourself", and bullying (serious bullying) that are common of books from that age group. The whole thing will be told from a Disneyish or childish point of view, but will be pretty easy to see the serious themes anway. I do love writing from that age for some reason, and I think throwing in serious themes like that would be helpful and important to have in a book for that age group, to make the kids more open-minded and aware, but not hopeless or told in a boring way so they don't care...XD it's still in the works though)
I was laughing a lot last night watching iCarly as well, and decided since I didn't really have anything else I wanted to buy music-wise, and iCarly isn't on as often as I'd like it to be, I'd buy one of her episodes--though I didn't know which one to pick. So while deciding, I ended up checking out the episodes of Drake&Josh available on iTunes as well and finally gave in and bought "Josh Is Done" since I've been thinking about checking out iTunes to buy it for a while. I went back and decided on "iWanna Stay With Spencer" since my story does deal with Stella and a boy she looks at and loves deeply as her brother and I just really loved that episode...XD
After that, I was totally not paying attention in class and decided since I still had a little bit of money left on the gift card to buy more episodes, and was torn about which D&J and iCarly episodes to choose (since i figured i'd buy one more each). "Josh Runs Into Oprah" has the big boykiss scene, but I don't really care for the latter half of that episode and could always watch the kiss scene on YouTube, "Eric Punches Drake" because Craig wanting to sing with Drake and jealous that Eric isn't spending any time with him is absolutely hilarious, "Vicious Tiberius" because that episode is hilarious and the boys are trapped in a bathroom together, "Tree House" because the boys are trapped in a tree ("k-i-s-s-i-n-g" XD), and finally "The Storm" because I think that episode (aside from the movies) holds the record for most amount of D&J characters in one episode PLUS Crazy Steve yelling at Dora while Craig frighteningly turns the crank is one of the funniest things I think I've ever watched on TV period. I ended up going with the latter (reasoning that it would help me make cooler and more interesting side characters at least and help with interactions...yes, i literally reason buying books/TV shows/movies that way....). I still think I may end up buying one of the other ones anyway later (Eric Punches Drake most likely since I've seen the other two a couple of times but not the that one) .
Then I had to decide what other iCarly episode to buy...which was hard because thanks to iTunes, I realize there are a LOT of episodes I haven't seen!! I ended up deciding on "iPilot" since that might help introducing Stella in my story and I do need help with introductions--i always either end up going on for at LEAST a page or two on the character's background or totally ignore it and let the reader hopefully figure out as it goes along, though that's harder...it's so much easier in fanfiction! XD There's no real background to worry about because everyone already knows everything they need to about the characters!!!
While waiting for THAT to download then, I started surfing around iTunes TV Shows again. Apparently, all the shows I enjoy watching on TV that aren't aimed for children/teens, are not available! Law&Order (any of the series), Without a Trace, Charmed...none are there. CSI is, but I don't really watch that much anymore and was too pissed off that Law&Order wasn't there to even check it out. But I then suddenly discovered apparently "Lifetime" movies are listed as TV episodes (anyone else find that REALLY weird?)! And....
...they had
Odd Girl Out!!!!
Now seriously, everyone who has iTunes and has not seen this movie, GO LOOK FOR IT ON ITUNES! It's absolutely fantastic and so realistic (though it is a lifetime movie, it's one of the most realistic I've seen), and Alexa Vega is absolutely amazing in this. So even though I had no money on the giftcard left over, I bought it anyway. It was the first Lifetime movie that I ever really LOVED and still do, and seriously every kid in middle school should be forced to watch it.
I did check for Miracle Run right after that, but it wasn't there. :( Which sucks, and is strange considering it's starring Zac Efron, it's practically a GIVEN it will be bought by obsessed fangirls....well, hopefully they'll put that movie up too eventually, I'm going to start checking! XD
And now, in other news, I finally found a good Miranda icon!!! *points to userpic* But I had to go to
iconator to find it! :( People need to make more of her! AND iCARLY ICONS TOO!!!!!
XD I also realized, I may have a slight (in the wording of poppyfields13) "cradle robber" crush on Miranda Cosgrove. I just love her. XD She is a very good actress, hilarious comedian, and is pretty cute to top it off. I always enjoy watching her, and she's gotten very pretty too. I can't get over the differences in appearance--in all the main kids acually--between the early and later seasons of Drake&Josh! They grew up so much! But anyway, yes, I think I have a bit of a cradle-robbing crush on Miranda. Selena Gomez a bit too, but I'm more attached to Miranda because I love that sarcastic and sly side of her that she can bring out so subtely--plus, i've been a fan of Miranda's longer so she wins. XD
(I think this is also all partially
jannika's fault since she got me thinking about Schneider-related TV shows that I love so much [excluding Zoey 101 which i'm beginning to hate with a passion!] yesterday in her snarky commentary on the tween magazines...XD)
And now I've got some meeting i need to go to. :( I hate that the college always scheduals meetings like an hour or two after class...it really kills the day. Why can't they be right after?? Ugh. And I've still got an essay and book I need to procrastinate on!! XD
Okay, end rambling and fangirling entry. ;)
