The human race needs a new philosophy.

We're born, we die. Life happens when you're making other plans, as John Lennon once famously said. Who cares, really, what happens.

Who's gonna profit from misplaced trust?
Someone who isn't worth time. Someone who frankly, isn't worth bothering with. Everyone around them probably secretly hates them, and they have a consortium of false friends, and they'll never make any impact. Once their friends have grown up, they'll end up old, alone, bitter, and warped.

Who really cares?
The people that are there for you. Someone who will make time for you no matter what. They don't even have to make time, they just have to understand when you apologise two years later, and everything's just as it was. It happens.

What mark can I make?
Being a nice person. There's no greater reward within oneself that knowing you've truly made a difference and had an influence on someone's life, hopefully in the positive sense.

Everyone has their faults, and the true mark is being aware of them. I'm all too aware of my faults; I'm arrogant, condescending, patronising, I think I know everything, I expect too much in others, I'm stubborn, irritating to a point sometimes, and I procrastinate more than anyone I've ever met. I also have a habit of hating to lose an argument, and I'll usually be the last man standing, no matter what. If someone upsets me for good reason, I'm viscious, violent to a worrying degree, and I harbour grudges far longer than anyone. I give myself too openly to people, and don't know how to deal with the consequences. I'm a flirt, a messer, and I unwittingly lead people on without realising it.

Some people need to realise their own strengths sometimes, and it's only when you realise and actively acknowledge your faults that you can do it.
