Title:Between the Bars
Fandom: Les Miserables (2012)
Music: Elliott Smith's "Between the Bars"
Run time: 1 minute, 18 seconds
Subject: Valjean and Javert, two sides of the same coin, both victims of poverty and society and shame. Shippy feels. Little tiny hint of fix-it at the very end.
I don't want to say too much about any of this, because if it's any good as a fanvid, it should mostly speak for itself -- that's kind of the point -- but I kind of just want to it out throw there that since that scene with the medal-pinning made its way into the movie, it's become a little piece of head-canon for me that Javert, on some level, kind of identifies with Gavroche at the end, as another stray wolf-pup, who found a very different pack and calling but served it with equal faithfulness. (But of course, that relativism, and the waste it and hollowness it implies in all he's done, is too much for him to accept -- aaaaand it's all Valjean's fault, somehow, because somehow Valjean has transcended all of this.)
...And all of this rambling is really only relevant to a two-second clip a full minute into the vid (with the line "you've been before"). So. Make of that what you will?
