It's not Thanksgiving unless you set off the smoke alarm

I should cop to something.

When re-heating the mashed potatoes in the oven at Suzanne's house, I was using a glass baking dish that just barely held all the potatoes.  In my defense, I'd run out of dishes capable of holding all our dinner offerings and didn't have much of a choice except to use what I had left.

Anywho, I topped the potatoes with 2 Tblsp of butter for reheating (and then dusted with paprika).  Unfortunately, the butter overflowed to the bottom of the oven and started burning (and glazing the bottom of Suzanne's oven).  This set off the smoke alarm *and* (I didn't know they had this) the security alarm - causing the security company to call and make sure everything was OK.

When I think of all the deep-fried turkeys that must have happened across the country, I felt a little bit of a reprieve knowing that they - and companies like them - were probably swamped with calls that night.

Thank the Gods for microwave ovens......
