I bought new sheets (the blue and the green one) and new bedclothes yesterday and put them on right away. I love them. I love stripes in general, and these colors are so spring-like. I'd also hoped by washing pretty much that was on the bed before I'd also get rid of whatever it is that keeps giving me insect bites as big as a five cent coin, but no such luck. This morning I had two fresh ones. I keep scratching them, sometimes unconsciously, and my legs look like a battlefield.

I'm going to the eye doctor tomorrow because I fear I might need glasses. I can see near things and far away things fine, but the medium-range stuff is sometimes quite un-sharp. I didn't notice it much till I tried the glasses of a friend and suddenly that railing out there was more focused. And I've noticed it more since. Like, at the Chicago convention, I knew the guys on stage were Jensen and Jared, and I recognized them, but it's like I saw them better through my camera since that was right in front of my face. Does that make sense?

I eventually admitted defeat and dropped out of Big Bang. It seems that even my fast writing is too slow. I managed about 7000 words on May 1, which is a record for me (most of my complete stories don't even have that many words), but it wasn't enough. Also, the whole time I was writing I kept thinking that a) it sucked and b) it was unrealistic, which meant that I would have to change a whole lot from the first draft to the finished thing and why was I frantically trying to finish something just to completely rewrite it later and use about a fourth of what I'd originally written. Seemed like an unreasonable thing to do just to stay in a challenge. On the other hand, I have an idea now where I want the story to go, so hooray.

If you want to know what fans can produce when they set their mind to it, check out The Hunt for Gollum, a fan-made movie that you can watch for free. I haven't yet, but it looks very cool.
