I needed more general, non-fanish icons, so I made this one from a picture I took in Spain. The sky was not actually that blue, neither was the sea. In fact it was a rather gray, windy day and it rained multiple times. I had to touch it up a bit. Those three people are my mom, my sister's boyfriend, and my sister.

I really earned my dinner today. I needed leek and carrots for it, which we didn't have. Instead of driving to the next store, which is about 3 kilometers away, I hopped onto my mom's bike. And while I was at it, I took the DVDs we'd rented back to the rental place. I came home eventually after a 20 kilometers tour, hopped into the shower, and started cooking. Quinua-Küchle (best translated as "quinoa patties", I guess), so delicious.

I also finally, finally managed to make cancha (roasted salted corn)! It's not as easy as you'd think. I'd tried roasting fresh corn and corn from a tin, in the oven and in a pan, but they wouldn't get dry and crunchy, just hard. You can buy roasted corn in Turkish stores here, and in supermarkets in Spain, but that tastes truly awful. However, my sister discovered a Latin American store in her neighborhood, and while we were there, I bought dried, unroasted corn that I tossed into a pan today. I overdid it a bit, so maybe less heat next time, but gererally it was really good. Whoo! Cancha is one thing of the Peruvian food that I miss a lot.

Then I watched Tropic Thunder, which was hilarious. It's one of the movies that came out while I was gone, and I never saw it at my trusted pirate copies store, and while I'm sure someone mentioned it somewhere, I virtually didn't know it existed until the Oscars. I also didn't know Lance was in it -- although I was hoping since the time his name came up -- and I hope I didn't wake my parents with my hysterical laughter.
