I got my latest Hammacher Shlemmer catalog yesterday, with some wonderfully steamy home furnishings finds. If I had the extra money, there would be alot of these in the Clockwork Shoppe on shelves, the desk, etc.

After I finished my last Steampunk 'style' painting, my mother sent me various references and information to inspire me to create more works in the genre. Clicking randomly around Wikipedia (looking to see if seawater leeches existed, believe it or not) led me to this steamy device, a Leech Barometer - or its much more awesome name of Tempest Prognosticator, from the 19th century. It was also called the Atmospheric Electromagnetic Telegraph. :D

Hey all, for my steampunk assassin the Clockwork Fox; i have made a base for my arm, i wanted a semi-hidden ray gun on my arm.

This is the second generation steampunk-themed vibrabot I've built. Twin pager motors are driven by a lithium cell, each turned on by a magnetic reed switch. Bringing the RE magnet close to the switches closes the circuits and powers up the bot.

The turned brass pieces were made on a watch lathe. The base of the bot is brass and brown oak.

Maybe I simply visited Bedford's Victorian fair at the wrong time, but there seemed to be precious little Victoriana in evidence. Very few of the stall holders appeared to be in period dress, and the music from the steam-engine driven carousel was being drowned out by annoying chart music blaring from a stereo at one of the stalls.
