I know this isn't human steampunk, but I made this costume for a contest, and wanted to see what steampunk enthusiasts think.

HAHAHAH! Those bottles are perfect!!!! I do like! I'd recommend other colors on the tech, other than just brass, though. The outfit itself is very cute and simple.

They're orange juice bottles. I finished the juice and looked at them while it was upside down and lamented that they looked like a jet pack piece.

That looks great!
You've inspired me to make a steamy outfit for my BJD now (although mine is a girl and will have a totally different looking outfit and gear [so I'm not going to copy your creation]) ^^

The whole thing looks great, but you need to do a little more painting on the copper accessories. Metalic paints always seem to make everything seem less three D. the best way to deal with it is to use a very light coat of a dark ink in the deeper parts, and some of the copper mizxed with a tiny bit of silver for the highlights. If you would like better instructions you can find them on wargamming miniatures sites. there are all kinds of instructions on making the most of metallics.

Very cool look and great job.

Thanks!! I will paint that tonight, I do have some pearlizing medium too that I can use in place of the silver for the highlights...I will do that tonight at work <3

i was thinking the same thing! i have some gaming miniature paint that is a lovely black wash that gets into all the nooks and adds a lot of depth and creates an aged look.

i highly recommend it! diluted acrylic will work as well...

and maybe a touch of color on the buttons.

(to the OP) very nice work! i love the hair.

is this your dollectable entry?? good luck, its great!!

I would detail the jetpacks and fab gun, they are a bit flat :/ (I had the same prob with my human size one... got some scrapbooking rubons and that fixed it right up).

What sculpt is he?? My steampunk boy is a modded dreaming lion, but he's still a work in progress :<
