Ainsley House in Campbell, CA seeks Steampunk decor and attire

Although I haven't been as active in the Steampunk community as I would like, I've popped into events since 2008.

I'm offering Bay Area Steampunks an opportunity to display their work in a local Historical Register home* as part of a Steampunk Christmas suite at the Ainsley House in Campbell. We are decorating this weekend and can return your items after December 18, in time for Christmas (or Solstice). *this is a museum, not a residence, and visitors are supervised.

Besides themed Christmas decorations, the curator would love to borrow artifacts, artwork, props, and clothing. Although we have a few tailor's dummies to display clothing as artwork, and some items will be displayed prominently, we also need items just to embellish the space and lend atmosphere. So there is less pressure for items to be "museum quality" if you were too modest to send them to the exhibit in Anaheim. If you have wonderful stuff but were nervous about shipping it, this is your chance to personally hand it to curators and see it on display locally!

My colleague Laurel from the Steam Federation will be coordinating decorators at Ainsley House on Saturday, November 12th from 10:30 to at least 3:00, and I'll be there on Sunday the 13th from noonish to at least 3:00 with the Geek Club. If those times don't work, Tuesday would be your last chance. We will carefully log any loans, and the museum docents don't let visitors in the rooms alone.

The space is upstairs, and we can't hang anything on the walls, so keep that in mind before renting a truck to move Captain Nemo's pipe organ or your blueprints of the Nautilus.

I hope to see you this weekend!

Kathryn
