One of the more difficult things about the steampunk aesthetic for some of us is trying to maintain an ethical, animal-free lifestyle in a fashion heavily dominated by leather goods. I know I've seen occasional posts about vegan goods,
like these boots, but when I tried checking the community tags here for "vegan" or "vegetarian" it looks like that stuff hasn't been tagged!
Bearing that in mind, it's time to turn to the community for help!
So, what resources have you all found for ethical, animal-product free steampunk accessories or diy materials?
The big categories of course are probably goggles, belts and holsters, boots, leather bags, and armbands.
My fiancee and I are having goggles made by
AtomeFabrik and he was kind enough to source vegan leather alternatives for us.
Have you folks found any other vegan friendly stuff out there?
Edit: Just for a little more visibility, I thought I'd add this here --- It'd be helpful to have a "vegan" tag available for posting entries on this community!
Edit: And before this gets too out of hand, I use the terms "ethical," "animal-free," and "vegan" separately, with a purpose. They are not necessarily the same thing. Vegan goods can be made in sweatshops, and real leather goods can be made in an ethical manner. However, resources for vegan goods seem to be sorely underrepresented, so that is all this is about.
