So, those crazy cats over at
Threadbanger have a forum dedicated entirely to tutorials. Being the curious cat I am, I just had to check it out, and this is what I found:
Vest tutorial, with video; For your more casual look, a t-shirt-to-sweetheart tute,
and one with lots of pictures. They sure do like skirt tutorials on Threadbanger. I'll begin with a tute on
making a pattern using a skirt of your own. Also:
Massively boofy hankerchief skirt tutorial; Another video tutorial, this time for a circle skirt Another skirt tutorial, this time for a short snappy number with a train; Pleated skirt tute, another shortie that would do well for some extra length;
No sew skirt with threaded seams that would look awesome on a raggamuffin;
Speaking of raggamuffins,
jeans-to-short overalls would look damn sweet on the right person;
How to effectively crop a jacket; Bloomers, although the important bit (the pattern)
is here.(PDF) A simple neck cowl; Crochet mittens; Cheap and easy screenprinting; Screenprinting with a larger screen; The threadbangers also pointed me to a bunch of tutorials in other peoples blogs:
Shirt collar choker, as shown during
Threadbangers Steampunk Week. Another easy-as-hell skirt tutorial - the pictures show short skirts but you can make them as long as you please.
Making a purse from a map A petticoat by Anticraft(PDF) - I think we've had this one before, but it's solid gold.
http://www.howtomakeahat.com/ is , unsurprisingly, full of hat tutorials.
Bella Online has a nice spread of free online projects. The
six gore walking skirt and the
multi pocketed apron are probably the most useful.
Burdastyle's free tute archive contains more than a few useful tutorials. Unsurprisingly, most revolve around buying and then modifying a Burda pattern, but there are some that don't require that. The
Old Timey Pinafore,
spats,
nifty little round-bottomed bag,
muffin hat(with video),
armwarmers.
Burdastyle also has a few tutorials on altering sleeves for maximum puff -
puff sleeve tute,
drafting lef of mutton sleeves and
princess cap sleeves. There's also a tute on
adding drapery.
Tomorrow: I have a good poke about at
Craftster.
These are mostly beginner level tutorials. There's very little by way of special equipment or advanced techniques. I'm off to do the bloomers - let's see what else we can come up with!
