They sat either side of the fire, Farzil smoking the inevitable roll-ups and Stephen staring into the flames.

“Imagining lovers?” asked Farzil, idly. “I, myself, often dream of women now I have a wife.”

Stephen snorted in amusement. “The lucky ones that got away.”

“Or not! Once, three together. We slept well that night!” Farzil laughed. “But you are a single man. You don’t dream of love?”

“No,” said Stephen. “Or not any more.”

Farzil finished his cigarette and lit another from the glowing stub. “Ah, you will not break confidences. I understand, my friend. You are an honourable man.”
