After a while the cries of pain cease. Or maybe it is just that I stop hearing them as they are washed away. Poor unwanted creatures. Ryan takes his time over the operation, as gentle as when he guides the blade over his own face, taking care to fashion smooth, even strokes that never draw blood.
I should be horrified at the devastation, but the truth is, I love the blushing embarrassment and the vulnerability of newly-exposed flesh. He seems more naked as he lies with face pressed against my matted warmth.
“Let me,” says Ryan.
And he always does.
