My telecommunications class is a trip down memory lane.  We are talking about network protocols and I keep hearing terms that I haven’t used 10 years.  Who remembers choosing between X-Modem, Z-Modem, or Kermit for your downloads?  How about SLIP or PPP?  God I’m glad that I don’t have a modem anymore.

Karen & I went to see the Jamestown High School play last night.  Typically we go every year and eat at Taco Hut before the play.  This year we went with a friend of mine from work and his wife.  The dinner was great, I got my Burrito Revolution and a pitcher of beer.  The play, The Sound of Music, was bad.  It was very bad.  The singing was off; ( Read more... )

I’m about to start another term at RIT.  This time I am taking Telecommunications Fundamentals.  I hope that it’s as easy as the PLC class I am taking now at JCC.  Work has been hectic.  We let two people go last week, and the directors from Germany were here this week.  My boss left for China yesterday morning.  Its 26 hours in the air… glad it’s ( Read more... )

The poor cat, much to her despair Noah has taken an intense liking to Snickers. Every time she walks in the room Noah stops what he is doing and goes for her. He still isn’t crawling yet, but he can move himself in circles and can generally get where he wants to. I probably make it worse though. Woot.. My first post from the new computer. I think I’ve finally got everything loaded up on here. It’s nice to have a machine that can run Solidworks again, and Photoshop rocks. Karen and I took my little brother Jairus out last night for his 21st birthday. I started feeding him shots of Jack here at the house before we went out to eat at Alfies. This last weekend we were in Fredonia, and I finally got to see some of the genetically engineered glofish (http://www.glofish.com/).  I was surprised at just how bright red they were.  I didn’t get to see them under a black light, but I just might go back and buy a few sometime.  I thought I remembered California banning them because of their ( Read more... )

Life is starting to get back to normal around here. I have been in remission for almost 3 months now. I didn’t enjoy the six chemo treatments very much, but at least they worked. I had my med-port removed the week after thanksgiving, and haven’t been to Roswell since. That’s been nice. Noah just turned seven months on the 19th. He is growing ( Read more... )
