I've been passing a bit of time this evening by browsing profiles of men on an online dating site I'm signed up to. It would be good to meet someone special and C-- Job Centre is not an ideal place for that, so hence my membership of the dating website.
One guy I had swapped a few short emails with seems to have stopped messaging me. Not sure why, but ok. There is another man who I've swapped a couple of longer emails with, who has suggested meeting up. I'm going to phone him tomorrow, so I'll see what happens there.
I've tried to widen my search options reasonably but many of the same profiles come up. A few observations:-
Some men look much older than their (claimed?) age. As in plus 5-10 years.
Having a deliberately moody facial expression in photos does not tend to flattter, it simply makes the man look like part of a 'Crimewatch' photo line-up.
Where have all the tall men gone? Height of potential partners really isn't as much of an issue for me as you might expect (the first man I fell hard for was 5ft 9") but lots of the profiles showing tonight were of men 5ft 7-8. I found myself snapping "Grow!" at the image on my computer screen. That's just not going to happen is it?
Could I tolerate a man who smokes occaisionally was a question I considered. Bearing in mind I have Asthma, and that there's truth in that cliche about 'kissing an ashtray' maybe my initial response of 'maybe' was a little desperate. My brother put that into perspective when he said, "No, smoking's rank, even someone who drinks regularly would be better". He has a point there, but I'm not keen on being with someone who gets hammered every week either.
So my casual searching online will continue.....
