Week in Review: Election Day/ RooG's birthday
A pretty uneventful week. It went by fast!
On Monday the ramen shop Ippachiya was giving away coupons for a free plate of gyoza... so we each got one to go with our bowl of ramen. Delicious but of course I didn't feel so hot after I was finished. So oily. >_<
Of course the big news was ELECTION DAY! On Tuesday night I actually felt kinda anxious about the whole thing and had a little trouble sleeping. I voted for Obama and I just did NOT want Romney to win.
Went to work and anxiously refreshed the NY Times app in between classes. Finally, as I was on the train home, the news came through that it was definitely Obama. I probably made an ass out of myself on the train, but I don't care. I was SO happy and SO relieved. :-D
Came home and watched some of the coverage on NHK...
... and watched Obama's speech, too. Seeing all the people in the audience united in their joy and their passion for their president made me really proud to be an American. I've never seen a Japanese person get even REMOTELY that excited about politics. I would imagine it's the same in other countries. I'm glad we have the ability to vote for our president, which is a right that sadly Japanese folks don't have.
And I was glad to see my faith in America restored. All those religious nutcases were defeated. Initiatives for marriage equality and marijuana were passed, and we got a bunch of new female senators too, apparently. So, YAY!!!
Today is RooG's 33rd birthday!! My mother is a superstar, and she not only remembered his birthday, but also sent him this cute e-card...
... but also sent a package, that we'll open with them on Skype hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning. RooG was so happy. As of now (7 PM), NO ONE from his family has wished him a happy birthday. I guess Japanese folks don't get so excited about birthdays. :P
I got him a cake and some nice presents that he'll open at his party tomorrow. :3
I'm finally at that point in Month 2 of Insanity where I got to the last two workouts-- Insane Abs and Max Interval Sports Training. I did Sports today, and... whew! It's hard, of course. But I wouldn't love it if it wasn't.
Also, am I the only one that is getting absolutely DELUGED by shitty spam on LJ?! I get maybe 10 messages or more a day and have been for the last week or so. What is going on?!
