~HEADSTANDS~

OMG I LOVE YOGA

Did you know that I love Lava, my yoga studio??? It is the greatest. Did you also know that I love yoga????

Yoga is so immensely awesome and the better I get at it, the stronger and more flexible my body gets and the more chill my mind gets, I love it more and more and more!!

Maybe like 4 or 5 months ago I tried a 75-min class called Style Up Yoga. Not really sure what the class has to do with style, but. It started with 15 minutes of deep breathing/ meditation and then another 15 minutes of slow, self-acupressure. And the class absolutely destroyed me. I HATED sitting still for that long. The 30 minutes felt like forever. There was another 45 minutes worth of good, advanced yoga poses afterwards, but I was in such a sour mood that I couldn't enjoy them. :/

Well, I tried the class again yesterday... and the 15 minutes were no biggie! D: My stomach and back have gotten a lot stronger so it's easier to sit up straight. I could relax and focus and it was good. This time around I thought the class was great!! Can't wait to go back. :D

I was in such a good mood that I thought I'd keep the momentum going and be a little adventurous. So today I trekked all the way to the Shibuya studio for a special workshop called "Let's try! Headstands"

Now. I have never done a headstand in my life. I have never even really tried, because I am terrified.

The workshop started with some meditation (no sweat!) and then some stretches to loosen up our shoulders and neck, and then a good 30 minutes of strenuous yoga to "create power" in our bodies.

The awesome teacher had us move our yoga mats so that the ends were touching the wall. I was so scared. She showed us how to put our hands and head on the floor just so. I moved my legs in, step by step, till my back was touching the wall. Then I put one leg up against the wall. Then the other.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!

The sparkly font (from here, btw) is there because it's the only way I can possibly express how happy I was in that instant. I WAS DOING A HEADSTAND, something I never thought I could do!! We practiced a bunch more times and then the class was over. I love that teacher for teaching me how to do it!

I would love to be able to do it without the wall, but Sensei said we should perfect the with-wall kind first before you try to go it alone. Too bad we have nowhere I could practice in our tiny Japanese apartment. :(

I think tomorrow I'll be trekking to Shinjuku for a 2-hour Ashtanga workshop. Oogah~!
