Have I ever mentioned that I used to be friends with The World's Youngest Professional Sideshow Performer?
No, really.
Click to viewI sat next to this kid in German class my freshman year. He was a senior, and we had this love-hate relationship thing going on that revolved around religious debates, storytelling and quite a few magic tricks. I think he enjoyed poking at me, and I definitely enjoyed learning about carnie life and illusions and the best way to walk on broken glass when he wasn't trying to systematically dismantle my belief system. (For the record, the lightbulb and the nail? Both very, very real. He did in-class demonstrations on a regular basis, much to the teacher's chagrin.)
Last I heard, he's working at the Venice Beach Freakshow in LA. If you guys are ever down there, check him out -- he puts on a really excellent show. :D
