Awesome day was awesome.

This is the first free moment I've had since 9:30 this morning, but that's totally okay. Today, I:

+ found out I was accepted as an associate editor to my school's undergraduate research magazine. How cool is that?

+ went to talk to my academic advisor about my schedule for next year and was randomly invited to participate in a research project with her and her colleagues this summer on the Virginia coast. It's a biological survey of threatened shorebirds, and will essentially involve spending a couple of weeks studying wildlife on islands. Studying wildlife on islands. THIS IS EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED IN LIFE, YOU GUYS. Apparently they're in desperate need of manpower, and she'd remembered that I'd expressed interest in fieldwork, and apparently thought I'd be a good fit. Ohhhhhhh my goodness. Details still need to be squared away, but this looks like a real possibility. More updates as they happen. I can't even deal with the information that's coming at me right now. *spins in circles happily*

+ finally got back to the dorm after a day jam-packed with classes, lectures, recitations, speeches and a grocery run to find the tiny old bolo-tie wearing Professor Emeritus from the Biochemistry department downstairs in the lounge, making everybody some ice cream using liquid nitrogen. I just...you guys, seriously. I love college so damn much.

As a final bonus, the weather was stunningly gorgeous, and bright yellow platoons of daffodils have suddenly sprouted everywhere. Life is beautiful.

reasons i'm crazy enough for research, pure awesome, science!
