Synchronicity

One day I'm going to have to write a paper or something on synchronicity. The roommate and I spent a great deal of time last night talking about "connections" -- otherwise unrelated events that all seem to relate back to a single source, or a series of meaningful coincidences -- and came to the conclusion that either we're both more attentive or just put more credit towards these occurrances than most people.

Example: I'm working on a Mentalist fanfic right now. In it, a character is killing time at an airport looking through a Vogue magazine for a particular article, so I found a real copy of Vogue to read so that I could get a sense of the layout. In the magazine I'm skimming through, I just found a short article on the actor who plays the character I'm supposed to be writing. Also, "Fiery Crash" (an Andrew Bird song about airports and plane trips) came on my Pandora station as I was reading. Ha.

Do you guys put any thought or credit towards synchronicity? It's a weird, vaguely superstitious way of looking at the world, but I half-jokingly believe there's something to it. At any rate, it's fun, and makes for some excellent story ideas.

synchronicity, weirdness
