today was a good day

kind of unexpected, considering the state I'm in. but i didn't cry at all today (although i did have to skip a song when it started making me begin to tear up.) i had my English paper due that i did a sleep deprived and crazy Sunday night, but i was so tired from my day (i took Kate to Planed Parenthood for her biopsy - if you know her, you know what that was like) that i didn't change much, just make parts clearer and more direct, explain some things better. i'll probably get a B. although she may be ridiculously easy/like me and bump my grade to an A. in Bio we did our activity day. we took blood pressure and lung capacity and heart sounds and pulse. my pulse in my wrist was so hard to find, i had to ask the teacher if she could find it, and it even took her a while. she also had dissection type stuff out, including AN INTACT HUMAN BRAIN SITTING ON A TRAY! not in a jar of alcohol like i've seen them before, but sitting there out in the open. i got to touch it. you could separate the lobes and look down at the corpus collosum, and where the occipital lobe separates from the rest of the cerebrum. best moment of my life. lunch was pretty boring, but i finished my psych homework and had a funny random conversation with these guys at my table. one was a self righteous ass, but the rest were fun. in psych we had a unit test, so what is usually an hour class i finished in 20 minutes. so i ran an errand, and called Katharine because i thought she would be in SLO for fencing practice because i knew it usually went on during my psych class. so i grabbed some books from home that i was supposed to deliver to her and brought them over to the park. she convinced my to stay and fight a bit, and she taught me the very basics. it was fun, and she said i did pretty well for my first try. my arm position is good, which apparently is something a lot of first timers get wrong, but my footwork is unsteady, and i need better ballence. afterwards i went out for coffee with a few of them at Uptown, which they do every week after practice. they were going to a play at 7:30 so we left about then. i went home to watch America's Next Top Model, then wrote this.

my whole lower arm hurts, and I'm sure it will feel worse tomorrow, but i had a lot of fun. i didn't think i was going to be able to start learning until next semester, but maybe next Wednesday i'll see if i can hop in once i get out of class. i should probably keep some sneakers or something in my car, because my sandals might have something to do with the shaky footwork.

i'm really glad i had a good day. i was overdue for one.
