Kate hears Gibbs somewhere to her left but doesn't take her eyes off the suspect in front of her. She's wearing Kevlar under her blouse, but that's hardly any consolation when the petty officer has his gun pressed to her temple.
"You come any closer, I'll shoot her. I swear I'll do it."
Kate believes him, and if there's one thing she knows to be true right now, it's that she's not ready to die.
A shot rings out; the petty officer slumps to the floor, and Gibbs is in front of her.
"Are you okay?"
