The opera closed today. It was a very strange performance, some of which was preventable, some of which was just weird. Through the holidays I'm only doing some green room shifts at the theater, not a show. The show is open! It's such a contrast to the musical I did this summer where we went from a week of tech to rehearsal the day of opening and another show on Sunday. I have been at the theater very much. Typical rehearsal days are an eight hour slot with an hour dinner break six days a week. We also give the actors breaks every 90 minutes. Technical rehearsals are different - the actors can go longer than 90 minutes during a run, plus we add in the "ten out of twelve," which is a twelve hour span with a two ( Read more... )

This week was a bit more intense that I had hoped/planned. Trying to tie-up any loose ends and projects at the store got more challenging when my new part-timer no-call-no-showed then wouldn't call back and actually quit, and an experienced former assistant manager got put on bed rest six weeks before her due date. I haven't posted because I've been working my not-as-little-as-I'd-like behind off. I've been working late at the tux shop almost every day then going straight to rehearsal from there. I get home just in time to send my reports and go to bed.

It was hard to go back to work. After working for the company as long as I have (and I like the company, or I wouldn't have stayed) I go through waves of contentment followed by periods of dissatisfaction.
