While looking for info on Scottish furs, I came across a few pages of interest that I wanted to note here.

Wild Beavers return to Scotland!

Olde Fabrickes. "Here are a few terms used to describe fabric and cloth over the centuries." Also includes Fur & Leather, and Wildfowl & Fish. Seems to be mostly 16th-17th century focus. Not sure how accurate the descriptions are.

Another list describing Renaissance Colors

OEL, (companion website for Old English). OEL is "about old handwriting, unfamiliar or obsolete words, abbreviations, Latin terms, old dates, money, measures and more. The records are usually primary sources such as wills, letters, deeds, census and parish records, gravestones, etc., but terms and references from secondary sources -- personal titles, occupations, names and such -- are also discussed."

History of the Red Squirrels, (aka vair, one of the two heraldic furs - the other being ermine), and how they were nearly extinct in Scotland by the 18th century.

Going to head to bed soon.
